Who we are

Starting in 2024, Sapporo Streams has been providing guiding services to English-speaking clients who are visiting the Sapporo area. Our guide, Kevin, is not only knowledgeable about the streams in the Sapporo area, fly and lure fishing, but also speaks and reads at a conversational level of Japanese to assist in any encounter you may have on the streams or to better understand the rules and manners of the Hokkaido fishing community.

Fishing is a passion for Kevin, and as a classroom teacher for 20 years, guiding and teaching on the stream comes naturally to him. We aim to help you reach your goal for the day, whether that be to work on a specific skill, target a specific species, or simply enjoy a peaceful day in nature. Beginners are very welcome. Kevin can show you the basics of how to cast and handle fish, or help you to refine a skill you’ve been working on.

We fish in mountain streams where wild fish abound. Most of our customers are picked up in Sapporo city center and are on a mountain stream fishing in less than an hour. Fishing wild species in the Sapporo area is a special gift, and we aim to keep it that way. Conservation of and connection to the wilds around Sapporo is a priority. We take care to use the most gentle methods possible when handling fish and to keep the environments we enter as pristine as we find them and more.

If you would like to share a day on stream, Kevin will share his passion for the beautiful natural landscape with you. Learn more about plans on our
Services page and head to the Contact page to check availability.
